NERS Interpreting and Translation Services
Why Choose NERS
NERS is a long standing North East based charity established in 1998, which provides advice and support to asylum seekers and refugees throughout the region. We provide a wide and varied range of support to our client group, for further information on what we do our website is www.refugee.org.uk .
We are the only charitable organisation providing interpreting services in Tyne and Wear. Whilst some of the revenue will go directly to support the charities main purpose, supporting asylum seekers and refugees, the majority will be reinvested into the interpreting service, for training, volunteer development, employment workshops, financial inclusion and interpreter forums.
We will treat our interpreters with respect and we are establishing a programme of training and development to ensure that they are achieving their highest possible potential. We welcome applicants, who are interested in pursuing a new career in interpreting, to join us and attain the level 3 Community Interpreting qualification, through our training programme.
The interpreting office provides an opportunity for volunteer placements, where volunteers gain invaluable experience in finance, administration, customer services and IT. We run employment workshops and one to one support (for both the interpreters and volunteers) offering a service to assist participants in enhancing employment opportunities through CV writing, application letters and interview techniques. We can help them match their relevant skills to suitable employment opportunities.
Through reinvestment of income generated, we are planning to set up a financial inclusion initiative, to help our self employed interpreters with money management and assist in improving their financial awareness.

We will offer you an exceptional level of service provided by our highly trained and experienced interpreters.
Our interpreters are DPSI qualified, have a minimum of level 3 in community interpreting qualification, as well as specific areas of expertise (for example mental health services) which are available on request when booking. All interpreters are CRB / DBS cleared.
