The North of England Refugee Service is an independent and charitable organisation which exists to meet the needs and represent the interests of asylum seekers and refugees who have arrived or have settled in the North of England.
The heart of our work is: too accompany and support refugees on their journey, from arrival to establishment in their new community and to be an authoritative voice on issues affective the refugee community in the region.
The Phoenix Mentoring Project aim is to provide a mentoring service to young people aged 16 to 25 years living in the Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding area (Tyne & Wear); to offer young people the opportunity to experience a unique one-to-one learning/development opportunity through which both mentor and mentee benefit and develop; support young people in exploring their needs and interests. This mentoring service for young people prioritising asylum seekers & refugees aged 16-25 living in Newcastle & surrounding area. The project offers young people a one-to-one mentoring relationship matched with volunteer mentors, which is managed & supervised by staff. It is free and travel and basic refreshment costs are reimbursed.
