The translation department exists to provide a high-quality, client-specific translation into a number of languages spoken by asylum seekers and refugees.

All translators are trained to the standards set by the NERS Interpreting and Translation Service and comply with the Translators Code of Practice at all times.

Our aim is complete customer satisfaction with every document we translate.

How to use the translating service

Should you require the need for a professional translation, please contact the service on 0191 245 7313 for an introductory discussion of your requirements. The service will be able to provide you with practical information on the cultural appropriateness of the text to be translated into the language(s) of asylum seekers and refugees, and provide you with suggestions on formats and modes of communication.

The service strongly encourages the professional user's participation in the translation process. This encourages consultation with the translator on issues such as transliteration and the meaning of the source text. Please note that if your format is rigid, translated text might have to undergo changes in order to fit the format.

The text will be translated and checked before submission. Completed translation will be delivered to you according to your specifications (it could be collected by you, sent by post, e-mailed or faxed). You can also request the translation on a floppy disc.
